As this weeks journey ends, what is quite profound to me is this……
This put so many things in perspective for me. Because we get so caught up in the moments….a moment of frustration, a moment of multi-tasking, a moment of anger, etc. And sometimes, even a sense of desperation and great sorrow. And yet, if we were to stop at this very moment, take a deep breath, and simply as ourselves this very question…..everything would seem to fall right back into place where it should have been all along.
For instance…….you have a deadline, it is in 5 hours and suddenly everything and everyone seems to be disturbing you…..needing your attention right now! Or perhaps something you have been working on for a very long time has just fallen apart at the seams. In that moment you can feel so deflated, as if doom is just around the corner, as if you simply cannot take “it” anymore. What is “it” anyway? I’m not sure we even know when we are feeling this way.
But the beauty is that we can change this! We hold the power to put everything into perspective and feel whole again. After all, if we were all to live each day as if it were our last, wouldn’t we make better choices? How could we not? The sense of urgency to fulfill our desires would be number one. And as many of us know, none of us are promised tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come for us.
So, live today as if it were your last. When presented with confrontation or feelings of desperation or sadness……ask yourself the question…..”If today were my last day on earth, how would I handle this decision?” “What would be the most important thing to get done, or who would I take the time to tell I love them…..Who would I make sure knew how important they were before bedtime?
Kinda puts it all into perspective then huh? It certainly has for me. I seem to be at peace most of the time, and I strive to help those around me to feel this peace as well.
Just remember folks…..we only have today to make it all right…..how we would want to be remembered. So go out today and make it the very best day of your life! Share your gifts, share your joy, and perhaps provide the path for someone else to find it all for themselves as well.
